In September, 2021, me and collaborators Jonathan Garvey and Lea Judge received a seed commission from Creative Industries Trafford to develop a new stop motion short in response to the Cosgrove Hall Films Archive.

We proposed an experimental stop frame animation shot in black and white where a ballerina experiences a tragedy, with initial connotations of grace and poise the character would create a contrast between expectation and reality. Throughout the film she would wear a series of Japanese masks representing the disjuncture between her inner identity and outer persona.

Our proposal was accepted and we presented our work in development at Puppet Masters, 2021.

The film is now in development and will explore the human condition and its relation to outer persona in a non-linear timeframe.
